Thought for the Day 4/27/2005

If you scatter thorns, don't go barefoot. Italian proverb -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you walk your talk, people listen. German proverb DO what you SAY you are going to DO: Matthew 5:33-37 " Again you have heard that it was said to the men of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.' But I say to you, Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil."

"I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness for it shows me the stars." -- Og Mandino Psalms 119:67 Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. Psalms 119:71 It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.

Thought for the Day 4/29/2005

This is one of many psalms that talks of praising God in the midst of adversity. In the midst of his oncoming trouble, David stands strong and he proclaims that his "heart is fixed" (or as a more modern version puts it "steadfast") As we begin our day, we know that adversities are waiting just around the corner. As you enter into your day, make the commitment to enter it with praise and resolve to "fix" your heart toward Him so that nothing can remove you from His presence. Psalms 57:6-7 They spread a net for my feet - I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path - but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
