Thought for the Day 11/29/2005

People are like stained glass windows:
they sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within.
Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

Thought for the Day 11/25/2005

Psalms 92:1-5 is entitled, A Song for the Sabbath. This Psalm is a psalm of praise and gratitude. The psalmist reminds us that it is a "Good Thing" to thank God and to sing His praises.

With all of the turmoil that the world is facing, it's easy for us to lose our focus. It's seems that we spend more time praying for understanding rather than praising God for His goodness and mercy. God continues to bless us everyday. Take the time to praise Him for His love and His mercy.

"To give thanks to God is but a small return for the great benefits wherewith he daily loads us; yet as David calls it a good thing we must not despise it, or neglect it. We thank men when they oblige us, how much more ought we to bless the Lord when he benefits us. -- C.H. Spurgeon"

There is no "inappropriate" time for praising God. Singing a song to God is an incredible way to lift your spirits and put your mind at ease.

As you enter your daily battle, start it with praise and gratitude.

Psalms 92:1-5 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to thy name, O Most High; to declare thy steadfast love in the morning, and thy faithfulness by night, to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre.
For thou, O LORD, hast made me glad by thy work; at the works of thy hands I sing for joy. How great are thy works, O LORD! Thy thoughts are very deep!

Thought for the Day 11/24/2005

Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High.
Psalm 50:14

It is always possible to be thankful for what is given, rather than to complain about what is not given. One or the other becomes a habit of life.
Elizabeth Elliot

Thought for the Day 11/28/2005

You will find, as you look back upon your life, that the moments when you really lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love.
Henry Drummond

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ constrains us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

There is nothing wrong with making mistakes.
Just remember to learn from them and grow.
--Anonymous

Ephesians 4:15-16 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

A gossip is one who talks to you about other people.
A bore is one who talks to you about himself.
A brilliant conversationalist is one who listens to you talk about yourself.

Proverbs 11:12-13 A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his tongue. A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.

1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.

Thought for the Day 11/7/2005

Attitude is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than what people do or say. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill.
Charles Swindoll

Philippians 4:4-7 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 10:24-25 Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

Let us develop the good habit of associating with those who can build us up, in God's love and Word.
