Thought for the Day 11/30/2011

"Avoid the crowd. Do your own thinking independently. Be the chess player, not the chess piece." - Ralph Charell I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way. Philippians 3:14-15

Thought for the Day 11/28/2011

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. Melody Beattie I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving. Psalm 69:30

Thanksgiving Blessing Today I am so truly thankful for so many things. I have been blessed in so many ways. I am thankful for the wonderful country I live in, and for all its many heroes. I am thankful for my wonderful family and friends. They are some of my greatest blessings. I am thankful for the creatures that are put on earth for us all. They teach us so much, unconditional love, loyalty, and understanding. I ask that all who suffer with illness have this day free from pain. I am thankful for all who have tables filled with food and someone to share it with. And for those that have no family or food, Lord, I ask that You comfort them. I am thankful for the time I had with my loved ones. They shall always be loved and greatly missed. I am thankful for allowing me to have love and understanding in my heart. It is these many blessings that make my humble life happy and fulfilled.   Amen  (James Allen)   May your Thanksgiving

Thought for the Day 11/23/2011

G is for gratitude. When I'm in gratitude, if I even stop and make a list of the things I'm grateful for, that's a form of prayer. It breaks my trance of misery or self-absorption. -Anne Lamott Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

Thought for the Day 11/22/2011

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. ~William Arthur Ward For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving… 1 Timothy 4:4

Thought for the Day 11/21/2011

"Develop an 'attitude of gratitude.' Say thank you to everyone you meet for everything they do for you." - Brian Tracy And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of His deeds in songs of joy! Psalm 107:22

Thought for the Day 11/18/2011

Aspire to inspire       before you expire. Unknown And we urge you, brothers,        admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted,          help the weak, be patient with them all.          1 Thessalonians 5:14

Thought for the Day 11/17/2011

Don't Quit When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about, When he might have won if he'd stuck it out. Don't give up, though the pace seems slow - You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man; Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor's cup, And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out - The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are - It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when you're hard

Thought for the Day 11/16/2011

All life demands struggle . ….The very striving and hard work that we so constantly try to avoid      is the major building block in the person we are today. Ralph Ransom Jesus we proclaim, ….. that we may present everyone mature in Christ. To get this done I toil and struggle, using the mighty strength which Christ supplies and which is at work in me. Colossians 1:28-29

Thought for the Day 11/15/2011

Some day, in years to come, you will be wrestling        with the great temptation, or trembling under the great sorrow of your life. But the real struggle is here,           now, in these quiet weeks. Now it is being decided whether,        in the day of your supreme sorrow or temptation, you shall miserably fail or gloriously conquer.           Character cannot be made except by a steady, long continued process. - Phillips Brooks Remember how it was with you in the past. In those days, after God's light had shone on you,             you suffered many things, yet were not defeated by the struggle. Hebrews 10:32

Thought for the Day 11/14/2011

Every worthwhile accomplishment, big or little,       has its stages of drudgery and triumph: a beginning, a struggle, and a victory. Mahatma Gandhi We struggle and work hard, because we have placed our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all …. 1 Timothy 4:10

Thought for the Day 11/11/11

The future is something, which everyone reaches      at the rate of sixty minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is. -C. S. Lewis Continue in the reverence           of the LORD all the day. Surely there is a future,          and your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 23:17-18

Thought for the Day 11/10/2011

"When I look back on all these worries,       I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed that he had had a lot of trouble in his life,       most of which had never happened." - Winston Churchill   So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings. Matthew 6:34

Thought for the Day 11/9/2011

No act of kindness,       No matter how small, Is ever wasted Aesop Put on then, as God's chosen ones…. compassionate hearts,            kindness, humility, meekness, and patience… Colossians 3:12

Thought for the Day 11/8/2011

Living in the past is a dull and lonely business;       looking back strains the neck muscles, causes you to bump into people not going your way. Edna Ferber For people who speak thus make it clear        that they are seeking a homeland. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God,        for He has prepared for them a city. For here we have no lasting city,        but we seek the city that is to come. Hebrews 11:14, 16; 13:14

Thought for the Day 11/7/2011

We are here to add what we can to life,      not to get what we can from it. William Osler Kind words bring life. Proverbs 15:4 And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.' Matthew 25:40

Thought for the Day 11/4/2011

The future belongs to those who        believe in the beauty of their dreams. Eleanor Roosevelt When the LORD brought us back to Jerusalem,            it was like a dream! How we laughed, how we sang for joy!         Then the other nations said about us, "The LORD did great things for them." Psalm 126:1-2

The difference you make today,    count in all our tomorrows. C. H. Pearce God is always fair. He will remember how you helped his people in the past and          how you are still helping them. You belong to God, and He won't forget the love you have shown his people. Hebrews 6:10
