Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak;

                 to sit down and listen.

“Hear me, all of you, and understand.”

Thought for the Day 2/23/2012

The past cannot be regained,
              although we can learn from it;

the future is not yet ours
even though we must plan for it.

Time is now. We have only today.

Thought for the Day 2/22/2012

Most of us are pretty good at keeping promises to others
and pretty bad at keeping promises to ourselves.
Lawrence LeShan

Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,'
and not do what I tell you?
Everyone who comes to me
and hears my words and does them,
I will show you what he is like:
A man who built his house on The Rock….
Luke 6:46-47

Thought for the Day 2/21/2012

The difference between a successful person and others
is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge,
but rather in a lack of will.
Vince Lombardi

The young man said to him, "All these I have kept. What do I still lack?"
Jesus said to him, "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess
and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
Matthew 19:20-22

Thought for the Day 2/14/2012

Love Guides

--Say it, whisper it, or sing it, but just make sure
you say it often to your spouse - I Love You!

--Keep a "thank-you" jar.  Throughout the year jot
down reasons why you are thankful for your spouse
and then read them aloud on your anniversary.

--Remember that your marriage vows were made before God.

--Compliment the love of your life often, in private
  and in public.

--Give big bear hugs.

--Start a devotional time just for the two of you.

--Pray for each other - and with each other.

--Spend the first 10 minutes upon arrival home
each day visiting with your spouse - alone.

--Slip a love note into a lunch sack, or a briefcase.

--Go through your wedding album or watch your wedding video together.  (Try not to think about how skinny  you used to be!  Have a laugh over the hairstyles and clothes, but don't grieve over the lost hair!)

--Remind each other of the reasons you fell in love.

--Make sure you look your best when you're out with your spouse.  (This means you guys, too!)

--Attend church and Sunday school together.

--Share household responsibilities.  (Real men do housework, ya know!)

--Speak kindly to (and of) your spouse - always, no matter what.

--Keep a photo of your spouse at work.

--Laugh at all your spouse's jokes even if you've heard them a hundred times before or if he/she blows the punch line.

--Smile when your beloved walks into the room.

--Hold on to each other when the going gets rough.

--Be the first to say "I'm sorry" after an argument no matter who was right.  Don't go to bed angry with each other.

--Be the best examples to your children of what a wife/mother and husband/father should be.

The words of God are not like the oak leaf
which dies and falls to the earth,
but like the pine tree which stays green forever.
-Native American Proverb

Blessed is the man ….
Whose delight is in the law of the LORD…..
He is like a tree planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,

If you ever need a helping hand,
you'll find one at the end of your arm.
- Yiddish Proverb

We did not accept anyone's support without paying for it.
          Instead, we worked and toiled;
we kept working day and night
so as not to be an expense to any of you.
We did this…. to be an example for you to follow.
2 Thessalonians 3:8-9

Thought for the Day 2/1/2012

Just for today I will be happy. Just for today I will try to live through this day only,
not to tackle my whole life problem at once.
I can do things for twelve hours that would appall me
if I had to keep them up for a lifetime.
                          Just for today…
Sybyl F. Partridge

This is the day that the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
