Friday Tale - Patience and NO I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a by-product of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is earned.   I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings.  Happiness is up to you.   I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me. I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No. You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful. I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No. I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things. I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as God loves me. God said... Ahhhh, finally you have the idea. Instead tell your storm how big your GOD is." ~ Unknown   S o, as those who have been chosen by God,  holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility,

Friday Tale - Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow T here are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.           One of these days is yesterday with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control.           All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed - we cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone.           The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow with its possible adversaries, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance.           Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control.           Tomorrow’s sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds - but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.           This leaves only one day - today. Any man can fight the battles of just one day.           It is on

Friday Tale - Lessons from a Carrot, Egg and Coffee Bean   L et's face it. Painful personal trauma and tragedy – like illness or injury, death of a loved one, loss of a job, or an unexpected breakup of a relationship – are unavoidable. The question is: Will these private calamities erode our capacity to be happy or cause us to become stronger and better able to live a meaningful and fulfilling life?          Consider how differently carrots, eggs, and ground coffee beans are affected by the extreme adversity of being boiled. Like a carrot, adversity can soften us. We can emerge more flexible, understanding, compassionate, and grateful, or we can let our life spirit turn into a soft mush.          Like an egg, boiling water can make us harder, stronger, tougher, and wiser, or we can become more cynical, pessimistic, callous, and inaccessible.          And like a coffee bean, we can willingly transform our lives into something better or lose ourselves completely.
