Friday Tale - The Brick   A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar.  He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.     As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door!  He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown.      The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, 'What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?'     The young boy was apologetic. 'Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do,' He pleaded.   Friday Tale - Stress Management   A lecturer when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked; 'How heavy is this glass of water?'     Answers called out ranged from 1 ounce to 15 ounces.     The lecturer replied, 'The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it.      If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.     If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.     If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.     In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.'     He continued, 'And that's the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on. '     'As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refres

Friday Tale - Sense of Wonder   I hope you never lose your sense of wonder. You get your fill to eat, but always keep that hunger. May you never take one single breath for granted. God forbid love ever leave you empty handed. I hope you still feel small when you stand by the ocean. Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens.   Friday Tale - Geese Flying South T his fall when you see geese heading south for the winter... flying along in V formation...you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way: Fact 1:   As each goose flaps its wings it creates an "uplift" for the birds that follow. By flying in a "V" formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone. Lesson: People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.   Fact 2:   When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it. Lesson: If we have as much sense as a goose we stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.
