Thought for the Day 5/30/2014

What will make you happy? It seems that there is always "something else" that will make us happy.  Will it though?  the Psalmist reminds us in Psalm 16 that everlasting happiness is found only in the presence of God. God has promised us a joy that can never fade if we will only follow the path that He has made for us.

Today, don't strive too much for temporary happiness. Strive more to obtain the eternal happiness that can only be found through and in Him.
.-amended from The Daily Psalmist

Thou will show me the path of life:
    in Thy presence is fullness of joy;
at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
-Psalm 16:11 (KJV)

Thought for the Day 5/29/2014

Although the world is full of suffering,
it is full also of the over-coming of it.
.-Helen Keller

Therefore I endure everything for the
sake of the elect, that they also may
       obtain the salvation that is
in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
If we endure, we will also reign with Him.

Thought for the Day 5/28/2014

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls;
the most massive characters are seared with scars.
.-Kahlil Gibran

We are children of God, and if children, then heirs--
heirs of God and fellow-hears with Christ,
provided we suffer with him in order that
we may also be glorified with him.
-Romans 8:17-18 (ESV)

Thought for the Day 5/27/2014

Deep, unspeakable suffering may well be called a baptism,
a regeneration, the initiation into a new state.
.-George Elliot

We were buried therefore with him by baptism,
into death, so that, just as Christ was raised
from the dead by the glory of the Father,
we too might walk in newness of life.
-Romans 6:4 (ESV)

Thought for the Day 5/26/2014

In Happy moments, praise God.
In Difficult moments, seek God.
In Quiet moments, worship God.
In Painful moments, trust God.
In Every moment, thank God.

We have not ceased to pray for you,
asking that you may be filled with
the knowledge of His will ........
so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord,
fully pleasing to him....
May you be strengthened with all power,
according to His glorious might,
for all endurance and patience with joy,
giving thanks to the Father.
-Colossians 1:9-12 (ESV)

Thought for the Day 5/23/2014

Shun idleness. It is a rust that attaches
itself to the most brilliant of metals.
.-Francois-Marie Arouet

We desire that every one of you do show
the same diligence to the full
assurance of hope unto the end:
     that ye be not slothful,
       but followers of them who
           through faith and patience
             will inherit the promises..
-Hebrews 6:11-12 (ESV)
