Friday Tale - Love's Response H e stood there in his soggy, smelly diaper -  a helpless creature  reaching up to his father.   I marveled that anyone could love this  runny-nosed, candy-smeared,  tear-streaked being  enough to lift him up,  kiss him, and care for his needs.   I heard Your whisper, Lord.  And I remembered  how I came to You --  heartbroken and dirty  from playing in the world.   Thank You, Father,  for picking me up  and loving me  through my unloveliness. . ~ Kitty Chappell L et me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul. ~ Psalm 143:8

Friday Tale - The Touch of the Master's Hand ‘T was battered and scarred, And the auctioneer thought it hardly worth his while To waste his time on the old violin, but he held it up with a smile. “What am I bid, good people,” he cried, “Who starts the bidding for me?” “One dollar, one dollar, Do I hear two?” “Two dollars, who makes it three?” “Three dollars once, three dollars twice, going for three,”   But, No, From the room far back a gray bearded man Came forward and picked up the bow, Then wiping the dust from the old violin And tightening up the strings, He played a melody, pure and sweet As sweet as caroling angel sings.   The music ceased and the auctioneer With a voice that was quiet and low, Said “What now am I bid for this old violin?” As he held it aloft with its’ bow. “One thousand, one thousand, Do I hear two?” “Two thousand, Who makes it three?” “Three thousand once, three thousand twice, Going and gone,” said he.   The audience cheered, But some of t...

Friday Tale - What Really Matters is.... A s  Carl Coleman drove to work one morning, he bumped fenders with another motorist. Both cars stopped, and the woman driving the other car got out to survey the damage. She was very distraught, knowing the accident was her fault. She admitted this, adding that her car was brand-new, less than two days from the showroom. She dreaded facing her husband.  Coleman was sympathetic, but knew he needed to pursue the exchange of license and registration data. As the woman reached into her glove compartment to retrieve the documents in an envelope, a piece of paper tumbled out.  Written in her husband's distinctive handwriting were the following words:  "In case of accident, please remember . . . Honey, it's you I love . . . not the car." ~ Tommy A bove all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. ~ 1 Peter 4:8

Friday Tale ~ Size or Sighs? "D anielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since we started all of this,” the mother told the volunteer. “What is it she keeps asking for?”   the volunteer asked. “Puppy size!”   replied the mother. “Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for.”   “I know...we have seen most of them,”   the mom said in frustration... Just then Danielle came walking into the office. “Well, did you find one?”   asked her mom. “No, not this time,”   Danielle said with sadness in her voice. “Can we come back on the weekend?” The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed. “You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there's always a supply,”   the volunteer said. Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. “Don't worry, I'll find one this weekend,” she said. Over the next few da...
