Friday Tale - Creativity    S ometimes to be really creative you just have to sit back and ask yourself some questions about who you are, where you are going, what you want to accomplish, etc.  The following questions force you to take a moment to do just that. 1.    If I had an hour of free time a day, how would I spend it? 2.    Who are my heroes and why? Am I anyone's hero? 3.    Can I see things from a different perspective? When did I last walk in someone else's shoes? 4.    Could I push myself harder at home and/or at work? Could I stand to ease up a little? 5.    What 25 things do I want to accomplish before I die? 6.    If I could start my life over again knowing what I know now, what would I do differently? What would I not change?            It may seem like the world is unraveling but ultimately of course, I am still convinced that the future is better than we may think in this moment . ~ Jim Gentil   B e on your guard so that you are not ca

Friday Tale - the Call at Midnight   W e all know what it's like to get that phone call in the middle of the night. This night's call was no different. Jerking up to the ringing summons, I focused on the red illuminated numbers of my clock. Midnight. Panicky thoughts filled my sleep-dazed mind as I grabbed the receiver.     " Hello ?"     My heart pounded, I gripped the phone tighter and eyed my husband, who was now turning to face my side of the bed.     " Mama ?" I could hardly hear the whisper over the static. But my thoughts immediately went to my daughter. When the desperate sound of a young crying voice became clearer on the line, I grabbed for my husband and squeezed his wrist.     " Mama, I know it's late. But don't...don't say anything, until I finish. And before you ask, yes, I've been drinking. I nearly ran off the road a few miles back and ..."     I drew in a sharp shallow breath, released my husband and

Friday Tale - True Value   A football in my hands is worth about $20. A football in Peyton Manning’s hands is worth about $15 million. It depends on whose hands it's in.   A basketball in my hands is worth about $25. A basketball in Shaquille O'Neal's hands is worth $30 million. It depends on whose hands it's in.   A rod in my hands may keep away a wild animal. A rod in Moses' hands parted a mighty sea. It depends on whose hands it's in.   A sling shot in my hands is just a kid's toy. A sling shot in David's hand killed a giant. It depends on whose hands it's in.   Two fish and 5 loves of bread in my hands will feed me. Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in Jesus’ hands fed thousands. It depends on whose hands it's in.   Nails in my hands might build a birdhouse. Nails in Jesus Christ's hands produced salvation for the world. It depends on whose hands it's in.

Friday Tale - Clay Balls   A man man was exploring caves by the seashore. In one of the caves he found a canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn’t look like much, but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could.      He thought little about it, until he dropped one of the clay balls and it cracked open on a rock. Inside was a beautiful precious stone!      Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars’ worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay balls he had left.      Then it struck him. He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he
