Thought for the Day 8/30/2019

Friday Tale: Seeing A Sermon

I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day,
I’d rather one should walk with me
than merely show the way.
The eye’s a better pupil and more willing
than the ear;
Fine counsel is confusing,
but example is always clear;
And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds,
For to see the good in action is what everybody needs.
I can soon learn how to do it if you’ll let me see it done,
I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue may too fast run.
And the lectures you deliver may be wise and true;
But I’d rather get my lesson by observing what you do.
For I may misunderstand you and the high advice you give,
But there’s no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.
~ Edgar A. Guest

Set an example for others by what you say and do,
as well as by your love, faith, and purity.
~ 1 Timothy 4:12

We look forward to the time when
the power to love will replace
the love of power. Then will our

and shall delight themselves
in the abundance of peace.

I pray that they may come to know
all the blessings Christ has given us.

a song; I will magnify Him with
thanksgiving. This will please the
LORD more than an ox, or a bull....

Thought for the Day 8/23/2019

Friday Tale – Smile
A Smile costs nothing, but gives much

It enriches those who receive,
without making poorer those who give

It takes but a moment,
but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever

None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor, but that he can be made rich by it

A Smile creates happiness in the home,
fosters good will in business,
and is the countersign of friendship

It brings rest to the weary,
cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,
and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anyone,
until it is given away

Some people are too tired to give you a smile;
Give them one of yours,
as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.
Author Unknown

 Happiness makes you smile
Proverbs 15:13

Thought for the Day 8/9/2019

Friday Tale: Don't QUIT!!

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and its turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When they might have won, had they stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit!
~ John Greenleaf Whittier

You too, must be patient.
Don't give up home.
The Lord will soon be here.
~ James 5:8 (GW)

We can't allow ourselves to get tired of
living the right way. Certainly, each of us
will receive everlasting life at the proper time,
if we don't give up.
