Thought for the Day 12/30/2022

Friday Tale - Think about your Thoughts   T hink about what you think, for it provides a mirror to the world of your heart and soul.   If you think you are beaten, you are. If you think you dare not, you don’t. If you like to win, but think you can’t, It’s almost certain you won’t.   If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost, For out of this world we find Success begins with a person’s will, It’s all in our state of mind.   If you think you’re outclassed, you are. You’ve got to think high to rise. You’ve got to be sure of yourself before You can ever win a prize.   Cause life’s battles don’t always go To the stronger or faster man, But sooner or later, the person who wins Is the person WHO THINKS HE CAN . ~ Walter D. Wintle   A s a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Let my thoughts be pleasing to Him; as for me, I shall be glad in the LORD. ~ Proverbs 23:7; Psalm 104:34

Friday Tale - Christmas:             On December 25th, the birth of Jesus Christ will once again be celebrated around the world. The gospels mention no actual birthdate—or even season of the year—so the precise date remains a mystery. For many scholars, though, the presence of shepherds and sheep at the familiar manger scene suggest that he was born in the fall of the year, and not the winter.           The exact date is unknown, but by the 4th century, December 25th was the accepted date throughout Europe. Scholars believe early Christians chose the date to coincide with pagan festivals celebrating the winter solstice.           Throughout the Roman Empire, the solstice was called "the birthday of the unconquered Sun," and publi...

Friday Tale - Success???   O ver the years , I have read thousands of books and articles on the subjects of success and achievement. It seems that the reasons for these accomplishments have been discussed and written about for more than two thousand years, in every conceivable way. One quality that most philosophers, teachers and experts agree on is the importance of self-discipline. As Al Tomsik summarized it years ago, "Success is tons of discipline."       Some years ago, I attended a conference in Washington. It was the lunch break and I was eating at a nearby food fair. The area was crowded and I sat down at the last open table by myself, even though it was a table for four.       A few minutes later, an older gentleman and a younger woman who was his assistant came along carrying trays of food, obviously looking for a place to sit.       With plenty of room at my table, I immediately aro...

Friday Tale - It's Wonderful! T he 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she has poor eyesight, moved to a nursing home today. Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window.   "I love it!
