Thought for the Day 6/30/2023

Friday Tale~ The Point of It all

Here is the point: it doesn't matter what you know, how many times you've failed, or how old you are, the opportunity to achieve your dreams is always there.

Every day of your life provides a fresh start. It doesn't matter if you've been stuck in a rut for the last twenty years, you can pull your way out of it tomorrow.

And with that new day will come a chance to do things right.

Maybe you haven't been in a rut, maybe you've been heading in the right direction but haven't taken that big step.

    Today is your day.

The truly amazing thing about life is how quickly we get a fresh start. Every time that sun rises, you have another go at it.

Most people, knowing that every day provides a new beginning, will continue to do the same things they've always done for the rest of their lives. Routine will run the show and their goals and dreams will never be more than wishes.

Years ago I learned something that I still use every single day:

When you get home to your spouse/kids/dog etc. - Before you open the door - Put a smile on your face!

It doesn't matter how your day went. Or what you're doing next. Or if you're starving.

For 30 seconds, at least pretend that you're elated to see them.

Make them feel like you were looking forward to getting back home.

After all, they're your favorite people in the whole world. I hope.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "That seems like a cheesy, tiny thing, man. Hardly an earth-shattering revelation."

But your #attitude sets the tone for the rest of the evening within 15 seconds of walking in the door.

So really, it's not tiny at all. It's a huge deal.

Because you come home every day. And the things you do every day grind on you.

Jordan Peterson says if you can fix 25 little things like "coming home," you will have an extraordinary life.

Taking your family to Disneyland is insignificant.

Your kid's expensive birthday party will be forgotten within weeks.

 Coming home?

That's your whole life. Fix it.

Start today.

Jesus said to him, "Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you." ~ Mark 5:19
