 Friday Tale - Criticism Challenge

Why do we have to criticize all the time? When we think about it, we are actually happy with most things that happen in our lives, BUT when we open our mouths and speak, we choose to focus on the things we disagree with or are critical about.

Jesus commented about the people of his generation and their criticism. He said, “For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of man has come eating and drinking and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her children.” (Luke 7 v 33 – 35 ESV).

They criticized John the Baptist, and they criticized Jesus, even though they both behaved different ways from each other. There was plenty to admire about both of them, BUT they focused on the negative.

Let us take a challenge to spend a week saying nothing negative. No criticism. Be positive, thankful, grateful. Build people up with your words instead of pulling people down. Find things to celebrate instead of things to disagree with.

Make this week a week of positive thoughts and words.

Do not judge and criticize and condemn others, so that you may not be judged and criticized and condemned yourselves.
