Thought for the Day 9/2/2026

Light tomorrow with today!  ~ Elizabeth Barrett Browning     People do not light a lamp and put it under a basket BUT on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.   In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.  ~ Matthew 5:15-16

Thought for the Day 8/28/2026

Friday Tale - Running in the Rain A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Wal-Mart. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Wal-Mart. We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day. The little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in "Mom, let's run through the rain," she said. "What?" Mom asked. "Let 's run through the rain!" She repeated. "No...

Thought for the Day 8/21/2026

Friday Tale ~ Rich I once asked my Aunt, Dora Jane, who raised me as if she were my mother where we stood on the spectrum between rich and poor. I said, "I know we live well and have money, but we don't have millions of dollars.  What does that make us?"  She responded by saying, "I beg your pardon!  We are rich, we have always been rich and we will always be rich!"  I responded, "But Auntie, we don't have money like the Getty's."  She interrupted me and said as she pointed to her heart, and then to her head, "Rich is in here and up here. You will always be rich in heart and mind. If you have a lot of money that makes you wealthy. If you have no money, that makes you broke.  You see, richness is a state of mind; not how much money you have. It does not matter how much you have that counts in life. It's what you do with what you have than counts. And so long as you remember that you will always be rich."   ~ Jake Ehrlich III L is...

Friday Tale ~ The Oak Tree A mighty wind blew night and day. It stole the oak tree’s leaves away, Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark Until the oak was tired and stark. But still the oak tree held its ground While other trees fell all around. The weary wind gave up and spoke “How can you still be standing Oak?” The oak tree said, “I know that you Can break each branch of mine in two, Carry every leaf away, Shake my limbs, and make me sway. But I have roots stretched in the earth, Growing stronger since my birth. You’ll never touch them, for you see They are the deepest part of me. Until today, I wasn’t sure Of just much I could endure.
