Thought for the Day 6/7/2005

Psalms 37:16 -18 A little that a righteous man has Is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But the LORD upholds the righteous. The LORD knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever.

This scripture reminds us not to store up our treasures here on this earth. We need to build up our spiritual treasures in God.

So many people today are giving up their eternal happiness in exchange for temporary pleasures. What would you have to exchange just to have that new sports car, new home, extra income, or new lifestyle that you desire?

David reminds us that it's better to have just a "little" here now than to forfeit our eternal inheritance in God's Kingdom on earth in the future.

  Friday Tale - "The Richest Man"   A rich landowner named Carl often rode around his vast estate so he could congratulate himself on his great wealth. One day while riding around his estate on his favorite horse, he saw Hans, an old tenant farmer. Hans was sitting under a tree when Carl rode by.          "I was just thanking God for my food." Hans said.          "If that is all I had to eat, I wouldn't feel like giving thanks." Carl protested.          "God has given me everything I need, and I am thankful for it."
