Friday Tale ~ Don't Quit T he successful man will profit from his mistakes and try again in a different way. ~ Dale Carnegie When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don’t you quit. Life is queer with its twists and its turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When they might have won, had they stuck it out. Don’t give up though the pace seems slow, You may succeed with another blow. Friday Tale - Using ALL Your Strength T here is a wonderful parable about a young boy and his father who came across a large tree branch blocking a country road. The boy boasted, “I bet I can move that branch.” His dad answered, “I'm sure you can, but you'll have to use all your strength.” The boy tackled the task enthusiastically, but after struggling and straining he was only able to move it a few feet. Exhausted, he concluded, “I guess we were both wrong. I can't move it.”     His father said, “you don't know that yet. Try again, but this time use all your strength.”     The boy tried once more and got nowhere. “Dad, I can't do it alone. I need help.”     “That's all you had to say, Son. I am part of your strength.”     Together they moved the branch.     This is an important lesson. There are many things we can't do alone, but that doesn't mean we can't get them d...

Friday Tale ~ Thankfulness T hankfulness is not a minor virtue. It is not one of the elementary virtues [that] may be left behind as we become more mature. I believe that thankfulness is essential to the strength of every virtue, and that without it every other branch is starved and lean. Life without thankfulness is devoid of love and passion. Hope without thankfulness is lacking in fine perception. Faith without thankfulness lacks strength and fortitude. Every virtue divorced from thankfulness is maimed and limps along the spiritual road. ~ John Henry Jowett T he LORD is my strength and my shield, my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart exults, and with my song I shall thank Him. ~ Psalm 28:7
